Breakthrough Atlantic is finally on her way to La Gomera. Nick and I love her very much but it was nice to pack her off and complete another stage in the project. Her journey goes something like this…..A 450 mile car journey to Rannoch Adventure in Burnham on Crouch, Essex. Loaded into a container in Harwich and then onto a ship bound for Santa Cruz, Tenerife. On arrival in Tenerife it has to clear customs and then onto a Fred Olsen Ferry to La Gomera. Nick and I will arrive on the 16 November to unpack her and get on with the task of rowing the Atlantic….Wahoo!
Wow! What a busy month September has been! In the last few weeks we’ve hosted poker nights, tennis tournaments, battle of the band contests and (tomorrow) an 80’s disco. It’s been a fairly exhausting to be honest but great fun at the same time and as a result of all the hard work we’re really boosted our fundraising total for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Thank you to all those who have continued to support our efforts. We promise that soon we will leave you alone and disappear into the sunset in our small rowing boat!
3 months to go and we have now raised over £81,000 for our lovely charity! Thanks again to everyone that has supported us. We have lots more to do before the big day and there are still a number of events taking place throughout the UK! We still have a way to go if we are going to make our £250,000 target so as always….if you would like to get involved or if you think your company, employer etc would like to help then please get in touch.
Thanks again you superstars! Ed Nicola Ellen and Nick x x x x
We set off on Sunday the 7th July from Felinheli Marina on the Menai Strait at 1030 to catch the ebbing tide to Llandwyn Island. From Llandwyn to South Stack was a real battle against a 12 – 15kt headwind, Atlantic rowing boats do not like a headwind! By this stage we were losing the tide and had to make a dash for Holyhead harbour, avoiding Stena Nordica on the way…
Breakthrough Atlantic and all our supporters have now smashed through the £70,000 barrier! This is fantastic news and we are delighted with this result. We would like to thank everybody that has donated so generously at our events over the last 16 months and also all those people that have helped run, organise, and promote charity events to help us reach this staggering amount. Without our friends and families none of this would be possible …
Great night at the Plas Menai Party on Saturday night. Tony Bee and all the catering staff did a fantastic job with the BBQ and puddings….THANK YOU! The final amount raised is not yet known but it will be in excess of £3000 which is brilliant. Thank you to everyone that donated raffle prizes and thanks to all those people that purchased a ticket! Thanks to the WeeBagBand for some great music and for making Nick and I do some drumming. Pictures soon!
